The sash is still on the bench.
Mary Street, a pair of casements. Glue went on yesterday.
The cottage wants the old opening back, not a new aluminium frame. I measured it twice because the sill has dropped on the south side, and a square sash would have shown the gap. The stiles are blackwood. The glass is already cut and leaning against the wall in newspaper, which is the only way I don’t lose it.
What’s left is the weather groove and a coat of oil. The owner paints it after that. I don’t paint. Paint hides the joint, and I’d rather they see it for a week before it disappears under their colour.
If you want to look at the fit, the door is open while the radio is on. Thursday is the day it leaves, unless the glue tells me otherwise. The opening itself is written down, and so is where the boards came from.
